Beyond The Cycle
Men's mental health has been a subject of taboo for a long time simply because of the societal expectations that have been placed on them. The belief that men should always be strong and emotionless has caused many of them to hide their feelings and suffer in silence. Unfortunately, mental disorders such as depression and anxiety are prevalent among men, and it is essential for these issues to be addressed.
Society has always been tough on men, and this is reflected in their mental well-being. Men are often tasked with being the breadwinners, the ones who have to provide for their families. This pressure, coupled with the expectation that they have to be strong, can lead to severe emotional distress, and even depression. Men are also less likely to seek help for mental health problems as compared to their female counterparts. This often leads to the issues going untreated until they become much worse.
It's time for us to change the narrative around men's mental health. We need to create safe spaces for men to talk about their struggles without the fear of being judged. We need to encourage men to seek help when necessary, and we need to acknowledge that experiencing emotional distress is not a sign of weakness. We must work towards breaking down the stigma surrounding men's mental health and promote the importance of mental wellness as essential to overall health. Only then can we move towards a society that supports and prioritizes the mental health of all individuals.
